Yummy Korean Food Restaurant is a well-established Toronto restaurant specializing in authentic Korean, Chinese, and Asian cuisine. We are looking for an experienced Head Cook to lead our kitchen operations and uphold the highest standards of taste, quality, and consistency.

Position Overview

As the Head Cook, you will be responsible for managing daily kitchen operations, developing menus, ensuring food quality and presentation, and leading a team of kitchen staff. This is a hands-on cooking role suited for an expert in Asian culinary traditions, especially Korean, Cantonese, and Szechuan styles.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and cook a wide variety of authentic Korean and Asian dishes.
• Lead and supervise all kitchen staff; organize work schedules and assign daily tasks.
• Maintain high standards of food quality, taste, and presentation.
• Plan menus and daily specials; estimate food requirements and control inventory.
• Ensure full compliance with sanitation, hygiene, and workplace safety standards.
• Manage the use and maintenance of professional kitchen equipment such as industrial woks, fryers, steamers, rice cookers, grills, and ovens.
• Monitor ingredient quality and coordinate with suppliers (all suppliers are Chinese-based companies).
• Train and mentor junior cooks and kitchen helpers.
• Ensure smooth kitchen operations during peak hours in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum ten (10) years of professional cooking experience in a restaurant, catering company, or food court.
• Strong skills in Korean, Chinese (Cantonese, Szechuan), and Asian cuisine required.
• Completion of secondary school or equivalent.
• Trades Certificate or Diploma in Cooking. We recognize foreign credentials.
• Proven ability to lead kitchen staff and maintain high culinary standards.
• Language: No English or French requirement. Ability to communicate in Mandarin preferred (all kitchen staff speak Mandarin; all training and safety materials are in Chinese and English).
• Professional, reliable, and passionate about Asian cooking.
